Mahati Hariharan Receiving the Trophy
In the month of January this year we lost one of our most loved and inspirational person. She was a Teacher par excellence in her younger days. She was a wonderful mother and a wonderful person who even at the age of 77 was so active, lively and full of life.  An avid reader and a prolific writer she went out and taught children in the School for underprivileged children even till her last day. A School she was associated with for the last many years. That great soul was Mrs. Kamal Kanta Bhagat. We convey our deepest condolences to the family.

We are indeed honored to institute an award in her memory. From this year onwards, one child from Kindergarten will be selected to receive the “Best Performer” Trophy on his or her outstanding and meritorious performance in the last academic year. Someone who epitomizes the character and spirit of the Late Mrs. Kamal Kanta Bhagat.

This year the choice was unanimous. The award for the Best Performer for the academic year 2011-12 was given to Mahati Hariharan. Mahati is a wonderful child and full of life. Always smiling and cheerful. Not only has she excelled in academics and other co-curricular activities but was also instrumental in our School being awarded the Multiple Intelligence Trophy in the Inter-School Competition at the Suncity World School. We wish her the best of Luck in life.

Kinder Valley International School Supports Earth Hour 2011.

WWF’s Earth Hour is a global campaign inspiring governments, businesses, communities and individuals to take a stand against climate change. It is the largest environment campaign in the history of our planet, successfully uniting the world towards taking collective action by switching off non essential lights for one hour in celebration of our planet.

Earth Hour was launched in Sydney, Australia in 2007, where 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour. Just a year later, Earth Hour reached 370 cities and towns in more than 35 countries across 18 time zones, and the campaign shifted from a ‘Sydney Event’ to a ‘Global Sustainability Movement’. Since then, every year Earth Hour sets new standards and breaks its own records on mass participation and support. 2010 received participation from a record 1.3 billion individuals across 4616 cities in 128 countries globally. Notable landmarks like Acropolis in Greece, Eiffel Tower in Paris, Hiroshima Peace Gardens in Japan, and Pyramids in Egypt switched off in support. In India, Vidya Balan has pledged support to the campaign this year as have a number of celebrities, businesses and media entities.

Kinder Valley International School supports the movement and urges all parents, friends and associates to participate in it. Participation is easy. You could do this by switching off lights at the designated time and also by forwarding this mail to your friends, associates and relatives appealing to them the need to participate in a global campaign.

Holi Celebrations at Kinder Valley

For the overall rounded development of children it is imperative that they regularly participate in cultural activities, events, excursions, picnics and outdoor games. Kinder Valley celebrates most of them at the School.

The festival of colours Holi was celebrated in the School recently with great enthusiasm. Children listened intently to the story of Holika and Prahlad and danced to various Holi songs. Non-toxic colours were smeared by them on each other. Children enjoyed having the gujjias and other sweetmeats after the ‘Holi Milan’. It was a riot of colours, happiness and gaiety for all children and their respective Class Teachers.

“Children learn better when they experience it first hand. By exposing them to celebrating various festivals at School we keep them acquainted with our heritage, the seasons and social values.” says Meera Narain, Principal of Kinder Valley International School.
